LOCAL AND GENERAL
In anticipation of a shortage of shearers, this year, the Otago Primary Production Council have, in conjunction with the Farmers’ Unio i, Young Farmers’ Clubs and A. and P. Associations. decided to run shearing classes at Roxburgh, and all arrangements have now been made. The classes will commence on Tuesday, morning, 22nd October, and will conclude on the afternoon, of Friday, Ist. November. Arrangements have been made for the use of four shearing shed's, together with an adequate supply of sheep. Competent instruction will be given in (a.) care (and use of blades and machine shears; (b) handling of sheep; and (c) woolclassing, baling etc. The fee for the course will be £2 2s, per person. This fee covers use of blades and shearing machines, all instructions;, and other incidental expenses such as transport to and from shearing sheds, etc.. Full particulars and forms of enrolment may ■be obtained from the secretary Jocal branch Farmers’ Union and from secretary Lake County A. land, P. Society.
The Rev. J. O, Fussell will be entertained at a farewell social evening in the Atheneum Hall tomorrow, (Wednesday). Instrumental and vocal items will be given and supper provided.
