had been credited to the Lake County f Council as goldfields revenue. The matter was recently investigated, and the Inspector of Mines at Dunedin, who inspected the claims 1 , estimated that nine acres of the Golden Arrow claim and four and a-half acres of the Junction Reward claim were within the Arrowtown Borough. The rentals collected under the licenses have been re-allocated according to the figures supplied by the Inspector, and it has been found that the sum of £24 Is to which the Arrow Borough Council was entitled has been erroneously credited to the Lake County Council. In order to adjust the matter, the sum memlioned had been deducted from the goldfields revenue payable to the Lake County Council for the month of July last and credited to the Arrow Borough Council.—Received, and the Department to be thanked. action of the Mayor and Or. Douglas was approved. The Commissioner of Transport wrote expressing appreciation of the support of local bodies in the enforcement campaign against cyclists riding at night without'lights and red reflectors. The latest figures show,

however, that cycle accidents at night were still frequent. A number of posters, drawing attention to the necessity for proper equipment, were forwarded, and the Council was asked to arrange for their display—Received and noted.

The General Secretary, Internal Adairs Department, wrote staling that owing to the interest taken in articlesdealing with public and provincial seals, appearing in the NjZ.
