BUSY BEES’ CONCERT

The Mackenzie Hall Av,a> Hi Ileal I o overflowing on Monday, 21st ineit., when Ft Andrew’s Busy Bees pr else uteri a_ very good concert programme in aid of missions. Bev D. K. Boyd presided over the gathering, while Miss Muriel Gray, leader, was in charge of the programme.

The proceedings opened with the singing of the ' missionary hymn, “From Greenland’s Icy Mountains', followed by a chorus sung by all the Busy Bees.

A recitation, “Busy Bees, was given by Jim Andrews; Jean Hamilton placed a pianoforte solo, and Allan Land-robe. Alan Hamilton, Jim Andrews, Keith Scott and Boy Lewisrecited “We arc the Busy Bees.” Two humorous recitations were, given by David Boyd, “So Useful,’’ and Boy Lewis, “Herbert the Ho'-watev-bottle. 1 Linlev Davies sang a solo, “Shining’ Like a Sunbeam.” This was followed by a playette entitled “Listening In,'’ with John Wilkinson and Stanley Berry as the listeners and Busy Bees dressed as Indians, Chinese, Islanders, and Maoris. A recitation, “Five Little Pennies,” was* given by Patty and John Bovds, Valda Landrebe, Gwen Davies',' Bill Anderson and Keith Perry. Jean Hamilton sang a solo “Little Brown 'Sister,” and Bav JLandrcbc and Keith Scott recited'“ The Bee.” A song in one of the Solomon Island languages' was sung by Nurse L. White. Valmai Alley and Valda Landrebe took part in a dialogue. Miss Young sang “Speak Just One Word, which was followed by a sketch “The 1 Mission Box” by' boys' of the Busy Dees. Nesisici Davidson and Ken Andrews gave a duologue,, “God Wants the Boys and Girls,’ A cornet solo wasi given bv Mr Fan Hamilton, a recitation by Fflie McLean, arnica song by the Busy Bee girls,. “A Night with the Busy Beeisi’ raprc'wenl - ing a meeting to which the good la-U'.v (Patty 'Mills) and children from other lands came, was- given by a group of Busy Bees. ' Four boys gave a song and recitation entitled “North, South, Fast and West.” A duet in Maori and English was sung by Misses Flora Macdonald and Anne Kidd. A play, “A Living Dream,” was acted by members of the senior Bible Class as follows:—Collector, Mr? l D- tv. Ttoyd, Conscience. Mrs A. Trinn; Mrs Jones, Missi Barbara Kerr; Indian, wile. Miss Jean Batts; Indian widow, Miss Isabel Ingles- New Hebridean woman, Mi ssi Jean Arthur; Chinese ,uomaii’.Missi Margaret Kerr. The Leader, Miss- Muriel Gray, and Oueen Bee, Miss. Joyce Anderson, sang a duet “Coming,” dming which representatives of the various branches of mission work took their places on the stage, thus bringing the concert to a conclusion. Supper was then served. As a result of the function a good sum of money will be available for tire mission schemes of the diurcih. , - \
