Miss Molly Mayhew returned to her home in Invercargill on Monday after spending the Xmas and New Ycai holidays in Queenstown. Mr Roland Angelo, who is wellknown to Queenstown residents, visited Queenstown over the New Tear holidays. Miss Paula Angelo and Miss Given Baliantyno of Dunedin are holidaying in Queenstown. Mr and Mrs T. R, Stroud and their voung son, returned to Invercargill on Sunday after spending a holiday with Mrs Stroud’s parents., Mr and Mrs M. Angelo, Stanley. St.

Miss M. Mcßride, who has been spending the holidays with h«r parents, Mr and Mrs J. J- Mcßride, has returned to Dunedin. Mrs E. Knowles, who has been visiting Dunedin and Cromwell, left on Monday for Glenorchy. Miss Doreen Deegan and Miss Monica Woods have returned to Invercargill after spending a holiday in Queenstown. Captain Dilner of the Marine e DeDepartment, Dunedin, paid a visit to Queenstown last week.

Miss Pirie of Invercargill spent the Xmas and New Year holidays in Queenstown . Miss Barron and Miss. Collet of Dunedin, have returned home after spending the holidays in. Queenstown.

Mr and Mrs Hugh Weir, who were the guests of Captain and Mrs Geo. Herbert, have returned to Dunedin. Miss Tanner of Invercargill is the guest of Mrs J. L. Lindsay. Mr and Mrs Walker ol Invercargill have been the guests of their son daughter-in-law, Mr and Mrs H. Walker.

The Mt. Cook Tourist and Southern Lakes Tourist Co. has taken over the whole of the small boats pievlously owned by Messrs J. Haines and J. Fraser.

Miss Maisie McKenzie of Wmton spent the New Year holidays m Queenstown. Mr and Mrs Stuck have returned to Invercargill after spending a holiday in Queenstown. . Mir Les. Dunbar of Dunedin spent the New Year holidays in Queenstown.

Mr and Mrs Stubbs and Mr L. Stubbs of Invercargill are holidaying in Queenstown. Miss Doreen Deeganof Invercargill is spending a holiday in Queenstown.

Messrs Oliver (2) of Dunedin are visiting Queenstown. Mrs McCaughau and Miss Mavis McCaughan arc spending a holiday in Invercargill. The Misses Kindle have returned to Dunedin after spending a holiday in Queenstown. M,r and Mrs W. Roche have returned to Dunedin after spending a holiday in Queenstown as the guest of Mrs Roche’s parents, Mr and Mrs W. Edwards.

Miss Thelma No wall and Miss Molly Robertson of Dunedin have returned to their homes.

'Mr and Mrs K. Rasmussen of Invercargill have returned home after spending the New Year holidays in Queenstown.

Mr Arthur Bell Dunedin was among recent New Year visitors to Queenstown.

Mr and Mrs Alan Campbell have returned to Oamaiu after being the guest of M,rs OampheU’s brother, the Rev Father Ardagh, Queenstown.

A party comprising Mr and Mrs Dale and Miss Zelda Dale, Christchurch; Mrs Morgan and Miss Daphne Morgan, and Mr A. S. Morgan, of Invercargill, motored through to Queenstown for the week-end. Mr and Mrs A. Couohman and eon, Tuatapere, Mr and Mrs L. Fowler and daughter, AYairio, and Mr D. Couchnian ,Ohai, were the guests _ of Mr and Mrs E. J. Lowen for Christmas.

Capt. D. Sampson left this morning on transfer to the Salvation Army Corps at Herbert

The Rev. F. W. Ault, organising secretary of the Board of Missions, Christchurch, is a visitor to Queenstown. He is the guest of the Rev. R. cle Lambert at his cottage in Suburb Street.

Mr and Mrs R. Gilkison and family, who have been in their shack_ over the holidays, returned to Wellington, via Purakanui, this morning.

Mr and Mrs O. H. McKay and Miss McKay returned home last evening from Kaka Point, where they spent the holidays. Miss Holdford and her niece and Miss Thompson of Dunedin are guests of Mr and Mrs A. Mackenzie, Mt, Nicholas station.

Capt. and Mrs Oliver of Wellington were the guests of Major Mackenzie and the Misses Mackenzie during last week.

Lieut. G. H. and Mrs Macan, with Miss Brenda Macan, of Clirisitcliurch, arc the guests of Mr W. Stewart, Man St.

Mrs A. Williamson and family of Rosiyn arc staying with Mr W. Stewart.

Mr and Mrs A. Dcnuisiton, and two children, of Auckland, and Mr and Mrs E. Clarkson and child, of Wellington, spent a few days' in Queenstown last week. Miss C. O’Connell has been appointed probationary assistant at the local. Public School, and will take up her duties in February.

Mrs Geo. Miles and young son spent a few days in Queenstown as the guests of Mrs Miles’ parents, Mr and Mrs T. H. Tallentire.

Miss Jean Sharpe spent rt night in Queenstown last week on her return to Glenorcby after spending a holiday with her aunt, Mrs Oliarteris, Te Anau Downs station.

Mr W. H Nelson, junr., of Takaka, Nelson, was' the guest of his parents, Mr and Mrs W. H. Nelson for the holidays. Miss Marjorie Greensladc of Christchurch is the guest of Miss Esther Percy, Melbourne St.

Mr and Mrs E. 0. Smith of Gore spent a few days in Queenstown recently.

On Monday evening, a social was held in the Mackenzie Hall to bid farewell to Captain Sampson, who has been in charge of the local Salvation. Army Corps for some months, and who has been trar.sl’erred on. promotion to the Corps at Herbert. His Worship the Mayor (Mr W. H. Overton), was in the chair, and other speakers were Mr W. Hales, the Rev. D. K. {Boyd, and Mr H. Sew Hoy, the Ecv. J. N. Goodman being detained till a late hour at a vestry meeting. Mr Graven, treasurer of the Palmerston North corps, also spoke. A most enjoyable programme of musical and vocal items was given by the following: Miss Jean Moffat, Miss Esther Percy, Miss Rene Hales, and Mr G. Fcrgusson (Greymouth). After a dainty supper had been served, the evening closed with, the Benediction.
