Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd., report for week ending Thursday, 26th August:— Eat Cattle.—There was a large yarding of fat cattle forward for to-day’s sale, 380 being penned. Tire quality (with the exception of two trucks oil extra special show bullocks) being generally similar to last sale, there being again a big proportion of prime bullocks on offer 1 . Cows and heifers were more strongly represented than a week ago. The sale throughout was quite a good one, the market for best grades of both ox and heifers being on a par to a shade easier, while medium sorts showed a drop of 15s to £1 per head as compared with last week’s rates. Extra prime heavy bullocks to £23 17s 6d, prime from £l7 7s 6d to £l9 2s 6d, medium £l2 17s 6d to £l3 17s 6d, light from £lO. Extra prime heavy cows and heifers to £l4 2s 6d, medium £8 13s to £lO 2is 6d, light from £6 12s 6d. Fat Sheep.—There was a fairly large entry, 1873 being penned for yesterday’s market, including approximately 100 hoggets. There was a vastly improved entry of butchers’ sheep, both from the point of numerical strength and quality. Extra prime heavy wethers to 545, prime 43s 6d, medium from 35s to 375, light from 275, prime heavy ews to 43s 6d, prime 36s to 38s, medium from 30s to 335, light bfrom 225. Fat Pigs—There was, a medium entry of fat pigs and these met with keen competition, prices being firim at late ruling rates. Oats.—There are very few offering and merchants are not keen to buy meantime. A grade gartons are bringing up to 3s 4d on trucks, country sidings. Wheat—Millers will take any lines suitable at full schedule rates. Fowl wheat meets with good inquiry at up to 5s 6d ex 'store, Dunedin. Chaff.—Sufficient is coming forward to meet the local inquiry and prime bright oaten sheaf is bringing up to £5 10s ex truck, Dunedin. Potatoes.—Very few consignments coming forward and there is a strong inquiry for prime Lines of tables. King Edwards are bringing ulp| to £ll and Arran Chiefs £9 10s, ex store, Dunedin. Sheepskins.—We held our sheepskin sale on Tuesday last, and offered a large catalogue to a good attendance of buyers. There was very keen competition though prices were from par to a shade easier. Half bred full wool to 17 ; Jd, fine crossbred full wool to 16jd, half bred half wool to 14-d, fine cross bred quarter wool to 12|d, crossbred full wool to 15|-d, dead and damaged crossbred 12yd, crossbred half wool to 13|d, dead and damaged half bred 15d, cross bred quarter wool to 11yd, half hoggets 151-d, cross bred hoggets 14|d, best pelts 9d, medium Gd to 7d, inferior 3d to 4d.
