FREEZING LAMB COMPETITION.
The Southland Frozen Meat Co. and the Southland A. and P. Society have again generously agreed to promote another Freezing Lamb competition in the Lakes district thisyear, which should be of considerable interest to farmers. As in the case last year, the judging will be done at the Southland A. and P. Society’s show in Invercargill in December. Prizes of £5, £3, and £2 are being offered as first, second and third awards; in addition to this the aforesaid company and Society have agreed and arranged to pay one-third each of the freight of the lambs from the district to Invercargill, the exhibitor paying the other third. The object of these competitions is to stimulate the interest of farmers and build up the export lamb trade from the Wakatipu district, and possibly with a view to increasing the exhibits at the Southland show. The hope is expressed that the farmers of Wakatipu will react to the very generous inducement being offered them in respect of this competition by sending as many entries as they can. It will be rememberd that the prize exhibits last year were highly commended at the Southland show and came in for signal honour in the Home market.
