GOLF NOTES.
ARROWTOWN. The first qualifying round for both the ladies and the men’s championships was played over the week-end. The following are the scores:— Ladies—Mrs Haggitt 114, Mrs James 115, Mrs Ritchie 116, Miss. Romans 120, Mrs Reed 123, Mrs Swann 133, Miss Shaw 135, Mrs Douglas 149, Mrs W. P. Saunders 160, Blumsky 181. Men.—Romans 87, Gobmes 101, Johnston 102, Reed 103, Latta 105, Murphy 109, Ritchie 111, W. P. Saunders 114, K Ferguson 118, Hannah 124, James 126. The winner of button in handicap play in the ladies’ section was Mrs James with a nett score of 40, Mrs Ritchie being next with 41. In the men’s section the button was won by A. Ritchie with a nett 81, the next best scores being Johnston 82, Reed 83. The second qualifying round will be played on August 28th and 29th, the following being the draw:— Ladies—Mrs James v Mrs Ritchie, Mrs Reed v Mrs Swann, Mrs Haggitt v Miss Romans Mrs Douglas v Mrs W. P. Saunders, Mrs Blumsky v Miss J. Reid, Miss Shaw v scorer. Men—James v W,‘ P. Saunders, Goomes v. A. Murphy, Reed v Romans, Johnston v K. Ferguson, Ritchie v Latta, Hannah v scorer, Dr. Ferguson v £. Saunders, A. Reid v G. Murphy.
