Stronach, Morris and Co., Ltd., report for week ending Thursday, sth Aug.: Fat Cattle—There was a larger entry of fat cattle forward, about 300 being penned. These included only three or four trucks of extra prime bullocks, the balance being made up of medium weight cows and heifers, with a big proportion of unfinished sorts. The market for all quality ox beef was on a par with Last week’s rates, but cows and heifers showed a drop of 15s to 25s per head. Extra prime heavy bullocks to £l9 17s 6d, prime heavy £ll 10s to £1.6, 'medium £ll 15s to £l4, light and unfinished from £8 ss. Extra prime cows and heifers to £l3 7s 6d, prime £8 15s to £9 15s, medium £6 10s to £B, light light and unfinished £5 to £6 ss. Fat Sheep.—There was a fairly large yarding of sheep, about 1750 being penned. The quality generally was fair, there being quite a few pens of outstanding wethers and ewes on offer. The market for all prime heavy wethers was on a par with last sale’s rates, but medium and light weight wethers showed a drop of 2s to 3s as did all ewes. Extra prime heavy wether’s to 52s 6d, prime 36s to 435, medium 32,s to 355, light 27s 6d to 31s, extra prime heavy ewes to 37s 3d, prime 28s to 31s, medium 23s to 275, light 14s to 225. Fat Pigs.—There was a medium entry of fat pigs and these met with keen competition, prices being flrin at late ruling rates.

Chaff.—Sufficient is coming forward to meet the local inquiry and prime bright oaten sheaf is bringing up to £5 10s ex truck, Dunedin. Potatoes. —Fair consignments have been coming to hand from the North and the market is a shade easier. King Edwards are meeting with the best inquiry and these are bringing up to £8 ex store, Dunedin, and Arran Chiefs £6 13s. Rabbitskins. —We held out usual rabbit-skin sale on Tuesday and offered a fairly large catalogue to a good attendance of buyers. There was good competition though the sale was inclined to be be erratic at times. Winter bucks were easier from 6d to lOd per lb and does from 2d to 6d per Lb while other sorts were from par to a shade easier on last sale’s rates.
