PLUNKET SOCIETY.

MEETING OF LOCAL BRANCH. A meeting of the Lake County Sub-branch of the Plunket Society was held in the Girl Guides rooms on the 27th ult. The president (Mrs Irwin Hunter) was in the chair and there was a satisfactory attendance of the committee. Apologies for absence were received from several members.

A letter was received from Mrs Hunter offering the Girl Guide rooms to the Plunket Committee as being more convenient than the Town Hall, owing to the stairway.—The offer was accepted with grateful thanks. The Plunket nurse will interview mothers at the new rooms on her next visit to Queenstown. A letter was received from Glenorchy asking if it would be possible to arrange for the Plunket nurse to visit there every two months, After due consideration and consultation with the Plunket nurse, this was agreed upon. The committee | welcomed tins opportunity of adding to the scope and influence of Plunket work. The extension of Plunket work in

Arrowtown was also discussed, and it was decided that if satisfactory arrangements could be made, the Nurse would also visit there regularly. It was decided to do town and Country collecting in September, all monies to be handed in by the end of that month. Miss White’s offer of the use of her car for Country collecting was gratefully received. It was decided to form a sub-com-mittee of men who would be willing to help with work in connection, with special efforts—isuch as Garden Parties, etc. In view .of the number of euchre

evenings held at present, it was decided to substitute a Bridge evening for the customary euchre. Mrs Hunter’s offer of the hospitality of her house for this was most gratefully accepted.—August 18th was decided on for the Bridge evening. It was decided to make a small presentation to Mr A .H. Cooke from the committee as an expression of

their thanks for the work he had done for the Society during the many years he has held the position of Iron secretary.
