Original Verse.
' THE REMARKABLES. A dawn of rose plays on th' enchanted heights Draped with sparkling mantle to the sky; An iridescent sheen of changing lights Which robes them in a stately majesty. High up, the terraced peaks their white crests fling, Till, forming like a wave, they seem to break; While higher still the soaring falcons wing Their splendid flight across a silver lake; Alta, the argent-clear, flashing as a gem Set in the Double-Gone, of dazzling snow; While Morning’s Glory, from the blue sky’s rim His image casts, in waters all aglow. O Silver Beauty ,of the morning Light! O Radiance that enfolds the scene so fair; Without the need of words in pure delight We hear Thy message, and wo thank Thee there. W. POWELL. The Vicarage, Queenstown.
