Constable J. H. Brooks, who has been in charge of the Pembroke district for the past twelve years, has received notice of his, transfer to Anderson’s Bay, Dunedin. Mi- Jas. E. Smith went to Dunedin on Wednesday last on a. business trip. He returned to Arrowbowu on Saturday. Messrs Andrew Kinross (Invercargill) and James Kinross (Dunedin) arrived at Gibbston on Saturday to attend their mother’s funeral. A presentation from the members of presentation from the members ot St. John’s Presbyterian Church was forwarded yesterday to Mr and Mrs J. C. MacGregor, Alexandra, the notice of their departure from Arrowtown being too short to permit of the presentation being made to them personally. The presents consisted ol a travelling rug for AH MacGregor and. a handbag and an umbrella for Mrs MacGregor. During his five years residence in Arrow town, Mr MacGregor had on many occasions conducted the Sunday services during the absence of the Minister, and the presentation was made as a small recognition of his gratuitous work. Mrs MacGregor was also a keen church worker.
