“ WAR MADNESS PASSING ”

JAZZ DOOMED “ Jazz is out.” That is the verdict of the dancing instructors of the United States who are at a conference in New York. A new dance, known as ‘ El Siboney, they say, is sweeping the country. This dance is described as “ sensational ” when performed by experts, and depends lor its charm on smooth rhythm. Africa’s jungle savages, according to the instructors, no longer influence modern dancing, their place being taken by South America and Spain. The result is that the latest dances are “ restful ” and “ harmonised ” with the long skirts now worn in the evening, Vi bar is more, these new dances are to bring back romance to nations which have grown cynical about love. In the words of one instructor; “ The madness and restlessness of the war days arc passing, and the people want something more satisfying.” Another languorous dance is the “ Rumba, ’ which originated in Cuba.
