MADMAN WITH MACHINE GUN
FIGHT WITH HONGKONG POLICE. An Indian constable “ran amok ” recently at Lok-Ma-Chau police station, on the Kowloon-Kwangtung frontier, China, shot dead Mrs Madgwiok, wife of the sergeant-in-charge, and mortally wounded a fellow Indian, and then engaged in a machine gun battle with a force of fifty European police until he was finally shot dead. The madman first got possession of a rifle by gaining entrance to the armoury, then, forcing his way into Mrs Madgwick’s room, shot her down, and turn an Indian who was on guard at the entrance to the station. Font other Indian police fled out of the building. On returning from patrol duty Mr Madgwick was met with a hail of bullets from a machine gun. Reinforcements, including fifty European police, led by Captain-super-intendent Wolfe, arrived from Hongkong Quickly surrounding the police station, which is well fortified nith barbed wire, they returned the mad constable’s fire for two hours finally the Indian’s fire ceased and the attackers carried out a charge. Breaking down the front door, they found the Indian lying dead, with a bullet m his head, behind his machine gun ami piles of ammunition.
