Wakatipu Bowling Club
OPENING OF SEASON. The Wakatipu Bowling Club was favoured with perfect weather for its official opening day on Wednesday last. 1 The green and its entrancing environment 1 prjeisenited a picture which is probably unequalled anywhere in the Dominion. The green was in splendid order and the enjoyment 'derived from the games was 'enhanced 'by the' exhilarating 1 atmosphere and 1 the wealth of spring flowers and native shrubs,etc. surrounding the green. Before the games were oommenceid, Mr T. Davidson, president, said he hoped’ that tire season would be a very successful one. A number of matehees 'would shortly be, arranged and he asked members tO' be, present as regularly as possible so that they would 'get in the maximum amount of play 'during the season. Mr Davidson complimented Mr Kelly, head gardener, on the fine state of the green.' t After 'extending a welcome to visitors, the president asked his daughter, Miss Kitty Davidson, to mil up the first ‘bowl. This was done amid the cheers of those assembled. The customaiy match, President, v. Vicepresident 'was then commenced. During the afternoon refreshments were dispensed from thei pavilion tea,rooms.
