Mirs Pirimlmcr, of Granville Terrace, Morningtgn, is on, a visit to Queenstown. Mr W. Koch, cadet in the Tiniam Post and Telegraph Office, is spending his annual holiday leave with liiifs grand parents in- Queenstown. M'isiS' 'Eva Davies, who has _ been spending the winter months in the North Island, returned to Queenstown, at the week-end. 4

Mrs R. Powell and daughter, who have been on a brief motoring trip to Christchurch, came back on Friday evening.

Miss l Macrae returned to- Clyde yesterday after spending a few days in. Queenstown as the guest of MrsCurtis.

Mrs Bobt. Gilkison, junr., returned) 'to Queens to wn on Friday evening from Dunedin, whore she has been spending a couple of weeks. She was accompanied by her mother, Mrs J. S. Bay ward of Wellington. The Bev. H. Parata left Gore for Dunedin on Thursday last to undergo an operation. It is understood that the Bev. Parata will, for health reasons, probably be transferred 1 to Queenstown ~S. Times. Mirs Walter Jones, Invercargill and her two children, have come to Queenstown for a couple of: weeks in order that their health may benefit by Wakatipu air. Mrs Jones’ sister, Miss Haine®, has been spending! the week-end with thiejm at-Ham-ilton House.

Dr John 'Dickie of Knox College, Dunedin, and his wife and their two youngest sons arrived in Queenstown on Friday evening. Du’ Dickie wild fill the pulpit at St. Andrew’s during the remainder of the Bev. Collie’s absence from Queenstown, They have gone into residences at the Manse.

Mr J. J. Mcßride received the; vieiiy sad news this morning of the death at Roxburgh of Ills sister, Mrs Chas. Sloper. Deceased, who was the seteoncE daughter of Mr F. Mcßride, one af the pioneers of this district, was bom in Wakatipu, where she lived till she removed with her husband to Roxburgh a few years agio. She became indisposed some days ago, but though her condition was serious her death came rather unexpectedly. The very deepest sympathy will be feit, for her husband ana near relatives in their bitter loss. Mi's Sloper was an exceedingly line type of woman, a most successful organiser, and! a tower of strength to her husband, in their business undertakings. The remains- will be brought to Queenstown tonight, and placed in -St. Joseph isChurch, The interment will take place in the Frank ton cemetery to-morrow, the cortege leaving 1 the church at-II o’clock.
