FIRE BRIGADE BALL.

Most enjoyable indeed was the recent Ball promoted by the Queenstown Eire Brigade. Not for some time has the. Garrison Hall presented such a gay spectacle as it did last Friday night when frolicsome Follies and Pierettes, dainty Sunflowers and 1 Chocolate girls mingled with stately Sneik, dignified Early Century ladies, and many other attractive characters in one happy and harmonious whole. Besides those in fancy costume, a large' crowd attended in ordinary eveaiing dress, so there was plenty of variety to interest all tastes. The’ hall carried the same charming decorations that were introduced on the occasion of the late Golf Club Ball and it would be difficult to conceive a more lieautiful setting for any assemblage. The floor of the hall presented a well nigh perfect surface for dancing, , which, combined with the music supplied by Misses A. Fraser and R. Powell (piano), Messrs J. Fraser (violin) and A. Mayne (cornet) conduced to the pleasure of everyone. The supper provided by the friends of the brigadesraen was quite “top-notching,” while the table decorations of early spring bulbs struck a delightful note after the flowerings season of winter. A very interesting feature of one of the after-supper dances was a confetti shower, ingeniously arranged by Mr* Curtis. For the space of two minutes a revolving contrivance secreted in the overhead girders continued to shower good luck on the lads and lasses, who came under its benign'influence. A streamer dance was also introduced during the evening. Quite a number of visitors motored from Arrowtown and the surrounding country for\ the ball, and the Brigade warmly appreciated the compliment.
