NOT IN THE BARGAIN.
Two American gentlemen on a visit to Cork, being desirous of seeiog an Irish wake, offered an Emerald Islander a£s note if he would acquaint them when one was likely tc take place. After a few days Pat went to th« gentlemen with the desired information, saying'he had to attend awake of one of his friends, and invited the gentlemen to be present.
In the midst of the proceedings one of the gentlemen, who was smo'tinc a cigar, approached near the coffin to obtain a view of the corpse, when the ash of his cigar descended on top of the deceased one's nose. This was too much for the "dead man," who jumped up in the coffin exclaiming :
"A bargain's a bargain, Pat ! I didn't vndertake to be cremated for the half of a £5 note !"
The gentlemen, being so amused at such 'cuteness, fulfilled their promise and handed over the note.
