Queenstown Regatta Club.

A SUCCESSFUL SEASON. The annual meeting of the regatta club which was adjourned from Friday evening will be held on Thursday evening, 26th inst., at 8.30 p.m., in the County Council office. The following report will be submitted to the meeting:— In presenting the annual report the committee has much pleasure in stating that the regatta of 1910 was a great success, both from a sporting and a financial point of view. Although the weather was not as favourable as we should have hoped, all the events were completed to the satisfaction of the visiting officials and the rowing men generally. The Committee feels assured that the regatta is as popular as everamongst rowing men, as the entries for 1910 compare very favorably with those for the previous year, the figures being 42 as againgt 49. We regret that it was impossible to hold the local evefits, but it is hoped that the full programme will be carried out this year.

The credit balance stands at the very satisfactory figure of 4s 9d, an increase of £7 17s 5d upon last year. The subscriptions amount to £BO 3s 4d, a falling off of £lB 9s 8d from last year. The moonlight excursion was a great success, realising £l2 2s 6d, which after deducting £4 for the hire of the Mountaineer,

-gave a net profit of £8 2s 6d. Owing to the difficulty of arranging a suitable programme it was decided to abandon the concert. The pony guessing competition resulted in a loss of £3 7s 6d, which is accounted for by the fact that during the afternoon, the bulk of the people were absent from the town, witnessing the racing on the Frankton Arm. The railway concessions amounted to £2 Is 6d, an increase of 4s 7d on last year. Efforts were made to secure better concessions, but without success.

The main item of expenditure, was, of course, the pize money. This amounted to £69, which was £5 2s less than last year, owing to the deletion of the launch race from the programme.

In conclusion, the Committee desires to thank Mr McSwan and his staff for their generous assistance, the officials who carried out tlnir duties so well, and the press representatives. We trust that | the incoming committee will have a successful season and that the regatta of 1911 will be more successful than its predecessors from a sporting, social and financial point of view. M. J. Gavin, President. A. J. Thompson, Hon. secretary.
