GORE HORSE BAZAAR.

Wright, Stephenson and Co., Ltd., report:— Saturday's sale at the above yards was taken in the nature of a speeial sale. The attendance was very large and representative. Entries came in very freely, and at the time of commencing totalled 140 horses, comprising heavy draughts, plough mares and geldings. Consignments came from Invercargill, Edendale, Woodlands, Wyndham, Clinton, Balfour, Riversdale, Balclutha and surrounding districts. Any horses in working condition met with fair support. Although we sold more than three-parts of the entry, the decline in the price of- horseflesh was very apparent, and sales were difficult to effect. Owners, as a rule, came with the intention of taking the market value, although it was in most cases fully £5 lower than expectations. Spring-carters were not in evidence, and . the same may be said' of good buggy horses and hackneys. It would be impossible to enumerate all the sales made throughout the day, but the following were the most important:—Bay gelding, 4yrs., ,£33; bay gelding, 6yrs., £37; bay gelding, 2yrs., £23 10s; bay mare, 3yrs., £22; bay gelding, syrs., £4l; bay gelding oyrs., ,£3(5; bay gelding, (iyrs., £3l 10s. On account Messrs Fleming Bros. (Crookston), grey mare, 4yrs., by Wallace (imp.), £4(5. Others at up to £32. A large quantity of harness brought full values.
