"Here you are," said the warder, handing a pail of water into the cell in which a Scotsman was incarcerated, "this is to wash your cell." Two minutes later the warder returned to find Sandy, clothed in nothing, giving himself a good scrub. "What on earth are you doing that for?" "Well," queried Sandy, "didn't ye tell me to wash ma' sel' ?"
