A SHAREBROKER ARRESTED. Auckland, October 27. Wm. Stevenson Aickin, sharebroker, has been arrested, charged with having on or about Oct. 15 sent to, or caused to he received by, Sir Joseph Ward a letter threatening to kill or do grievous bodily harm to Sir Joseph Ward. Aickin was before the Court. Later. Aickin's letter to Sir J. G. Ward urges him to repeal the Maori Land Settlement Act, 1905, which he declares is a distinct breach of the Treaty of Waitangi, and adds thatif itis not done this sessionhc will hold Sir J. G. Ward responsible. After certain references to past legislation, he says : "I aui determined Britain shall keep faith with the Maoris, and bloodshed is my only weapon." Aickin was reminded till Friday, without bail.
