130 PEOPLE KILLED.
LANDSLIP AND EARTHqi AKE. * Despatches from Tokio report that recently an earthquake took place in the vicinity of Kagi, in Formosa. The railway lines were twisted, telegraph poles knocked down, and many houses destroyed. The "Nichi N'ichi Shimbun" states that the casualties number over 100, while the ''.T igi Shimpo" places them as high as 800. An official telegram, however states that the earthquake caused the deaths of GO people. Many more were wounded, and 200 houses were dest roved. A violent storm caused landslides and floods at different points in the neighbourhood of Rio de .Janeiro, and 2o persons were killed and injured. No fewer than 12 landslips occurred at Petropolis. where .">o lives were lost and many persons injured.
