FOOTBALL.
A match between the Queenstown and Bemarkables Football Clubs was played on the local ground on Wednesday last. The day being fine a fair number of spectators were present. After a close and exciting game the match resulted in a win for Queenstown by 8 points to 3. Maniototo beat South Otago last Wednesday in Dunedin by 6 to nil. The match Vincent v. North Otago was very interesting, the latter going duwn by 6to 3. Two men had to retire during the game. _ A match was played at Dunedin on Saturday last between a team representing Otago and a selection from four country teams representing North and South Otago, Maniototo and Vincent Counties. The game resulted in a victory for Otago by 12 points to 5 points. Result of Saturday's interprovincial matches Auckland 11, Welliugion 5; Canterbury 14, Southland 3. Canterbury's score against Southland consisted of four tries (one converted) to one try (by Burgess). Canterbury's backs wers too much for the Southerners. The latter's forwards played splendidly. The match of the season was that between Wellington and Auckland, each province having won all matches this season.
