STAIRCASE TRAGEDY.

GIRL'S FALL BREAKS HER LOVER'S NECK. Mr James Condren, a young man, died at Morristown, U.S.A., on June 18. He was the victim of a remarkable tragedy. He recently visited Miss Mary Murray, a young woman to whom he was engaged, and who lives in New Jersey. Hurrying downstairs, Miss Murray tripped and crashed down on top of Mr Condren. She weighs 18| stone, while he was thin and of very light build. The young man was picked up unconscious, with his neck broken, Mies Murry being scarcely injured. Mr Condren was taken home, and the physicians believed that he would recover. On June 16, however, they decided to send him to the hospital, and seven doctors escorted him in the ambulance. Apparently he had injured his spinal cord, and death speedily fol lowed. Miss Murray was inconsolable.
