While the band played a number of excellent selections in the streets, the crowd amused itself in various waya. Some were intent on a display of fireworks, others, avoiding the " eagle eye " of the police, turned their attention to ringing the firebell, and others, not to be outdone rang the school bell. Monday, sports were held, and on Tuesday the s.s. Mountaineer, with the Queenstown Band and a large crowd of excursionists on board, went to Elfin Bay and Qlenorchy.
