An Unfortunate Mistake.
Id a little village in Kent, it wa> the custom on Saturday afternoons for the labourers and tradesmen to meet together on the common and have a good game of cricket. At one time, when the game waa first started, a grey-headed old rustic fielded a ball very well, but, to everyone's surprise, he threw it with great force at the batsman as he was half way across the pitch, and knocked him senseless. The umpire, in a great rage, yelled : # • Man, you are not allowed to do that. * B'aint it the same as rounders, thin ?' was the quick rejoinder of the astonished villager.
