An Easy Way Out.
In a certain Devon»hire parish there resides a noted teetotaler. The pariah doctor had his doabta about thia man'a staunchness, and resolved to put him to the teat, and invited him for a walk. After walking several miles, they came to an hotel, and the doctor invited his friend in and ordered two glaaaea of champagne. After theae had been drank, two more were ordered and swallowed. The doctor, feeling sure he now had the teetotaler, bluntly said to him :
'How doea thia tally with your teetotal pretensions, my friend ?' 1 Well enough,' responded that worthy; 4 though lam a teetotaler, and a staunch one, I would be a fool not to take what the doctor orders.'
