Why the Passengers Smiled. A ahort time ago, a happy couple, off for their honeymoon, desired to have a compartment to themaelvea ; but in the bustle and excitement bad forgotten to have one reserved. An obliging friend, however, rushed off to the station-master and procured one ot the uaual labels marked 'Engaged,' whioh he juat succeeded in aticking to the window as the train steamed out of the atation. Their deaire for privacy waa reapected, though the smiles of other passengers, who passed the door at the various stations made them rather unoomfortable. . " * >' t:; > Things were brought to a crisis when the ticket-collector, having received their tickets, facetiously wished them 'much happiness,' at the aame time pointing to the label. Judge of their confusion and wrath when they found that their waggish friend had crossed out ' Engaged,' and written underneath in large lettera, * Married.'
