The «-fficia 1 b of a country police court were startled mie day to aee a man walk into the court with a large axe over his shoulder. lie gazed around him aa if he expected to be attacked. Lltimately the clerk ventured to ask him why he was armed with ho formidable a weapon. The man replied that his summons told him to be provided with the meaiiß of defence, and he thought au axe would do for that purpose.
