PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH.
The session of the Presbyterian Church in Wakatlpu met in the Manse, Queenstown. on Wednesday. There were present Rev R Blair (moderator) and Messrs Boyne, ChaU mers, Geisow, Hateel, and Rodgers, (Elders). On the motion of Messrs Geisow and Chalmers it was decided to approve of the whole Basis of Union between the Prejsbyterian Church of Otago and Southland and that of New Zealand, as formulated by the Synod of 1896.
The moderator was instructed to endeavour to make suitable arrangements for the summer's work in the parish. Messrs Rogers and Boyne moved :—That this session hears with regret of the removal of Mr and Mrs Haining of Frahkton from this district, and desires to express its high appreciation of the services rendered by them to the congregation of Frankton, and of their work in the Christian Endeavour, Sunday School, and singing class there, and of the lively and active interest which Mr Haining, as a member of this session, has always taken in all that pertains to the spiritual welfare of the whole parish. A copy of this resolution to be forwarded to Mr Haining. The motion was unanimously carried. Several disjunction certificates were approved and the Moderator was commissioned to deal with applications for membership. On the motion of Messrs Geisow and Rogers it was decided that communion services be held during October as follows : On 10th at Arrowtown and Miller's Flat; 17th at Queenstown and Frankton; and 24th at Gibbston.
It was moved by Messrs Rogers and Hazeel, and carried unamimously—That the session recommends the committees to grant the minister a month's holiday every year. Moved by Messrs Geisow and Rogers and unanimously decided that the session records its thanks to the Editor of Our Monthly for furnishing the congregation with a paper calculated to promote the interests of our church, and trusts that it may be eminently successful. The session was closed in the usual way.
