Gordy. now; in gaol at Georgetown, United States, charged with the murder of his wife, Mrs "Mary Lewis Gordy, of New Yorif, has as miinv as eijrht and possibly rise wives now living. The AttorneyGeneral received a letter from a New: York woman in which she claims that married her in December, and deserted her two weeks afterward. •Vnother woman has written to the At-tornev-Genernl from Pittsburg, saymg that Gordy married her in September, * and that after he deserted her ebe learned that he had a wife in Chicago She hunted up the Chicago wife. an* has ,r iven hor name to the Attorney?General, but the latter refuses to divulge it. or the names of any of big other correspondents. The Attorney-General says that J0 thinks an investigation of Gordy'j career will prove him to be the greatest bigamist on record. The authontet-a propose to summon all of Gordy s wives to attend his trial, and they believe he will confess when confronted by them. The claim that Gordy has wives living also in Boston. Brooklyn, Newark, N. J., and New Haven. Ot.
