A NIAGARA SENSATION.

The Chicago Times Niagara Falls special of January 13 says: " That portion of the rugged bank nearest the Horseshoe falls, on the Cauada side, and known as 'Upper Table Rock,'fell at midnight last night with a deafening crash that was heard and the concussion felt miles away.Thousands of tons of solid rock fell into the gorge below and with it hundreds of tons of ice. The exact position of the break is becween the Prospect House and the Great Horseshoe falls, just above the old table rock and next to the spiral stairway leading to the path behind the sheet of water. The Government's iron railing for over 150 feet was carried away. It is at this very spot that all visitors stand to get a view. The foundation of the precipice is now entirely changed. One can now stand on the bank above and see the heavy Bhoet of water into the dark chasm. The greatest curiosity ig manifested by villagers and tourists, ana throngs of people are moving to the spot. A mass of limestone and slate 100 feet in length piled in a helping mass below. The supposed cause of the rock giving way is low water, and steady freezing weather for the last three weeks, causing a heavy weight of accumulated ice. About 60 feet in width by 170 feet deep, have collapsed.
