AUTUMN'S LEAVES.

The Autumn leaves are foiling fast. The summer's golden hours are past, The wayside flowers are 'aded all. The roan and the foxglove tall, Their petals to the winds are cast.

I know my joys in life are gone, I've hut the peet to live upon, And all my days are cold and bare, Like the Autumn that lacks the roees fair, And winter dread comes creeping on.

Can it be bat a summer a:o ?

My life was as gay as th< flowers that blow, And my sky was as dear as the sky above. With one to love me, and one to love— I thought he was true, bnt he was not so.

The autumn leaves are falling fast, All my j«ys an past, are past. Most I cany for aye this burden of care ? Most all my nfe be cold and rare ? Or shall I find some rest at last ? V. B. M. YES OB NO. Bo lore, after all, is only a cheat! And you smile as you iell me you think it so; Then, darling, what meaneth your be art s qnick brat When I ask, ■ Do yon love me, whether or no?" I tell yon, the angel in benren rejoice, Smiling out in the tight with their starlike cy*s, When they hear the low whisper, the tremulous voice, Saying only, ■ I love you! " 'midst tear•miles and sighs!

Too will not say it! the angels may weep, Till the stars are all quenched or dimgrown with tears! Ah, well, they have joyed in a love over-deep, In the years of the past, in the long, golden years! "Aid now it were better to sorrow awhile!" Ah, darling, you mock me! you scorn me so! la it ■no " from yoor lips, when it's yes in your smile ? Now look in my eyes, sweet, and answer me "no!"
