PPLICATION FOR SPECIAL , / CLAIM. * * _^__ To bu Excellency the Governor of Ne* Zealand. APPLICATION is hceby made under the provisions of section 93 of "The Mines Act, 1877," for a special claim of 100 acres, more or less, being of irregular shape, and situated on the north side of Skippers Creek, Lake Connty, Branch, including in the area applied for surveyed sections 14 and 18, block 11., ami sections 2, 3, 19, 20 and 21, block 111., Skippers Creek Survey District, held by me under Gold-mining Leases, as the same is marked out with pegs and trenches by roe. This applicais made for the following reasons:— 1. The said sections I already hold are so situated, and also on account of the nature of the ground, it is next to impossible to work tbera separately. 2. Tbe extent of land included in the leases is not sufficient to cover the dips and angles of the reef. 3. The Lbor clauses in (JoM-mining Leases cannot be strictly carried out, and yet a larger uumlier of men are employed than the leases m a whole require. 4. The drives of the mine will eventually go under the whole of the present leased sections. 5. Sixty thousand pounds has already been spent on the mine, and large continual expenditure is being made. 6. Pumping and windina machinery is being put up at a heavy ex|>ense to work the deep gronnJ, for which provision must be made by an extension of side lines of the leased sections. 7. I have for a number of years carried on, and am still earning on, my mining operations under circumstances of extraordinary difficulty and at very heavy coat and expense. S.
