Agricultural Items.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
Harvesting operations ate progressing in a fitful manner, and threshing has commenced in many instances. So far as it has gone the yields have been satisfactory, in some instances, even, what must be called very good. If, therefore, the official returns for the season should fall below the average, the reason must be attributed to a limited area bearing been put under crop. The late rains have had a very beneficial influence upon the native grass, and also the turnips, which are now making good progress. However, it is questionable whether the latter will redeem themselves, the chances being that they will grow tops merely. Farmers at the Crown Terrace are now busy sowing wheat for next year's crop, and that before even they have finished harvesting. However, some of the earlier crops have been cut in this place—and secured, being much sooner thau is usually the case iu this locality.
