THE QUEENSTOWN LIBRARY.
A special Committee meeting of above was "held last evening in the Library Hall. Present—The Rev. D. Boss (chair), and Messrs Beetham, Macklin, Innes, Betts, Ald red, Rogers, Purdie, G. M. Ross, Spence and J. F. Tully (hon secretary. The object of the meeting was to consider a telegram, received from Mr Bnrwell, who wanted instructions as to calling tenders for the Library building. Proposed by Mr Macklin, seconded by Mr Purdie, and carried—" That Mr Beetham be requested to telegraph to the Superintendent, asking permission to allow the out wall of the' Government Building to form a portion of the new library." Proposed by MV Ross, seconded by Mr Macklin,/ and carried—That the rough ground plan of Library, prepared by Mr Bnrwell, be approved of." Proposed by Mr Tully, seconded by Mr Ross, and carried—"That the Secretary inform Mr Bnrwell that this Committee cannot take any further steps ia the matter of proceeding with the building Until it is known whether the land will be granted; what the materials of the building are to be; also,, what his commission chaige would be." A vote of thanks to the chair closed the proceedings.
