MUNICIPAL COUNCIL.

A meeting of above body was held in the Council Chambers on Friday evening February 12, when there were present—The Mayor, and Cra JBoyne, Majireeon, Crofts, and Cash. Minutes of the previous special and general * meetings were read and confirmed. Outward correspondence consisted of letter to the Commissioner of Waste Lands Board, re jetty site. Incoming correspondence consisted of letters from the Provincial Secretary, refusing grant of £IOO towards maintaining main road through the township; from G. B. Barton, re J. W. Robert&oaiu^award; and from Cr Geisow, tendering his resignation as Councillor for ward. In reference to which, Cr Bovne stated that Cr Geisow desired to withdraw his resignation. Mr J. S. W orthington, as arbitrator, handed in a detailed statement of award in re J. W. Robertson. Cr Crofts stated, in reference to letter re main road, from the Provincial Secretary, that whilst in Dunedin he had had an interview with the Mr Reid, Secretary of Public Works, and he Mr Reid) said that he would endeavor to obtain the sum required, as he thought that in justice the Corporation should be refunded the amount. The Town Clerk was ordered to write again on the matter. The following accounts were passed for payment: —E. Price, £1 17s 6d; A. Boyne, re trout, £2 12s; Whittingham Bros., £3 2s lOd; Murrish, £6. On the motion of Crs Crofts and Cash, Mr Barton's account was referred to the Finance Committee, £2O being passed on account. The Council then adjourned.
