WAKATIP DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The monthly meeting of the Board of Management of above Institution took place in the Board-room on Saturday, 4th October, when there were present:—Messrs Beethara (President), F. Boyes, M. J. Malaghan, F. * M'Bride, T. Snrman, T. G. Betts, A. Eichardt, G. M. Ross, and J. S. vVortbington (hon. Secretary). • Minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed Accounts were passed for payment as under: — Salaries —£37 18s 4d. Rations — v Paterson, £2 Os 3d: Atkins, £3 15s Id; " t. M'Bride, £2 13s 9d; Whittingham Bros, £7 Jss 6& Fuel and LigU-^- Whittingham Bros., £3 Is 4d Stares— Preston & Co., *£s 17s Id; Whittingham Bros., 3s 4d; Hallenstein & Co, £1 10s 6d. Medicine— Whittingham Bros., £8 0s 6d. Incidental—£2 13s4d. Total, £73 8s lid. have investigated the charges- preferred against Mrs Thomson, and also have referred to Dr Douglas as to her conduct during the time of her occupancy of the post of matron with him. They have unanimously arrived at the conclusion that Mrs Thomson should be adjnonished that she must be careful in the future to pay the fullest attention to all instructions received by her from the Resident Surgeon of the Hospital for the time being; and the sub-committee recommend further that Mrs Thomson should be informed that persons who may from time to time be at the Hospital, either as patients or as the visitors or guests of the Resident Surgeon, should be treated with that courtesy and civility which is expected from every the Institution."

The matron was then asked if she desired to make.any complaints about officers connected with the Institution; when she laid certain charges of a somewhat serious nature against Dr Scott, and Harry King, wardsraan. The evidence of Mrs Thomson, her husband, King, and a patient named Watt was taken in writing. A patient named Sophy White, who was in the Hospital at the time the alleged offences were committed, was necessary to be examined before the Board could decide ; and with that view the enquiry was adjourned till the President saw Miss White.
