QUEENSTOWN DISTRICT SCHOOL.
The examination of scholars of the above School, previous to Easter vacation, took place on Thursday and Saturday, the 10th and 12th instant. The examiners for reading, spelling, -writing, arithmetic, geography, and grammar were the Revs. J. Smith and D. Ross; for physiology, Dr Scott; and for singing, the Kev. J. Smith and Mr J. F. Tully. Visitor and members of the School Committee were also in attendance during the greater portion of the time. The examiners generally expressed their satisfaction of the progress made by the pupils since the previous examination. A refreshment treat, under the supervision of Messrs Ross and Boyne, was given on the ground to the children, and it apparently gave ample satisfaction to all the participators. At the conclusion of the examination, prizes were distributed to those entitled to receive them—a special one being by one of the Committee for the best writing, to be taken from the copy books in use at School.
