Dr Douglas also called attention to a complaint that had been made against the wacdsman by the late Mr Stewart; and informed the Committee that, in addition to persona examined by him (the Doctor), two others J. Fraser and W. Yallance—were patients in the same ward.

Mr Beetham (who had just returned from a tour of inspection of the range above i Frankton) said the sab-committee appointed to investigate the question as to the beat means for obtaining a water supply, seemed to be of opinion that the surest and cheapest way of securing a constant supply of water would be—with the permission of the owner —to erect a dam on Mr Mooneyes property, a short distance above his hotel, and laying on therefrom a pipe as far as the HospitaL The chief, and almost only, expense would be the piping, and laying of same. Mr Ross proposed, and Mr Eichardt seconded—That the sub-committee, with Mr Betts, be appointed, with full power, to make any arrangements they may consider necessary to carry out the project recommended.—Carried. Proposed by Mr Beetham—That this Committee having made investigations with reference to complaints made by the late Mr J. E. Stewart, and having examined W. Vallance and J. Fraser, who were patients in the same ward during time of his illness, and having also considered the report of the Besident Surgeon on the matter, are of opinion that the care and attention which Mr J. E. Stewart's case demanded has been rendered to him, and that his complaints—which were, no doubt, made in the most perfect good faith and sincerity—are attributable to the irritability occasioned by the serious nature of the disease under which he was laboring. Seconded by Mr Boss* and carried. A vote of thanks to the chair closed the business.
