WAKATIP DISTRICT HOSPITAL.

The usual monthly meeting of the Committee took place in the Hoard Boom on Saturday last (lstinst.) Present—Messrs Beetham (chair), Betts, Boss, Anderson, and Boyes. The minutes of previous meeting were read and confirmed.

The following accounts were passed for payment : Salaries, £3B 15s. Rations —F. M'Bride, £2 lis 8d ; W. Paterson, £l2 6s lid ; M- J. Malaghan, £4 12s 7d. Fuel and light— M. J. Malaghan, 2s 2d; Whittingham 13r05., £4 17s 6d. Stores and furniture —M. J. Malaghan, £1 16s; C. Beeby, 15s. Medical comforts —Whittingham Bros., £lO 2s 3d. Bedding and clothing Whittingham 'Bros, £1 18s Bd. Incidental, £1 13s 4d.

It was reported that the number of patients in the Hospital at the end of last month was 16 ; the number admitted, 6 ; and 9 discharged (being 1 improved, 1 died, and 7 eured.) A communication from the Sub-committee at Arrowtown was received, asking for information add offering certain suggestions. Proposed by Mr Boss, seconded by Mr Anderson, and carried —That Mr Samuel be requested to pay at once the sum of £2 2s per week during the time he was in the Hospital. Proposed by Mr C. C. Boyes, seconded by Mr Boss, and carried—" That the Sub-Committee at Arrow be communicated with, to the effect that their suggestions have been received by the Board of Management; that the subject of the separation of the Chinese patients from the European has been referred to the Resident Surgeon; that, with reference to the second resolution, the appointment and election of Sub-Committees was intended to obviate the appointment of a paid collector, and that the Regulations as they stand at present do not contemplate such an appointment; and that further, in the opinion of the Board of Management, it is advisable that the present system be allowed to be in operation for at least twelve months before any change be attempted, as it has not been, up to the present time, tairly tested; that, with reference to the third resolution, the matter of water supply has recently engaged the attention of the Board, and that, as soon as the funds will permit, it is intended to provide a supply of pure water; that the Sub-Committee at Arrow be referred to the new Regulations on the subject of the issue of tickets, and be advised to endeavor to put the Regulations in force at as early a date as possible.
