HOSPITAL MEETING.

A meeting was held in Bracken's Hotel on Monday evening for the purpose of electing a committee to represent the Queenstown subscribers. R. Beetham, Esq., in the chair. Mr. Rees stated they had discovered that a Permanent Committee could not be elected until the Hospital had been gazetted by the Government, and so they had decided on forming an interim working committee to combine with those of the other districts and carry on the business of the hospital. They had agreed the other day that each district should elect one representative for every £SO subscribed. Queenstown could rely on £3Bl, and they were therefore empowered to choose eight gentlemen. The following gentlemen were then elected by show of hands—Messrs. Rees, Crdft, Cassius, T. H. Brown, Harris, Wm. Bruce, Bracken, Grumitt. The Chairman asked the meeting whether the names then before them should be deemed sufficient; or whether they would propose additional gentlemen, and afterwards make a selection. Mr. Morton thought that would be a breach of faith with those now proposed, and which had each been put separately to the meeting. On being put to the meeting, it was decided that the names should remain in statu quo. Mr. Rees then called the attention of the gentlemen present to the meeting of the different committees at Frankton on the 26th inst. at noon. After a vote of thanks to the chairman, the meeting adjourned.
