YEAR'S ACTIVITIES. An institution which has made its marie on. the year 1920 is the Christchurch Y.M.C.A. Left by the war with a depleted membership and a buildiug in need of thorough lepair, the association devoted the early part of the year to renovations and to reviving its club life. In the former work the directors were assisted by tiro Ladies’ Auxiliary Committee, while in the latter the staff were supported by a loyal band of members. As a result the association entors the new year with a building and equipment which harmonise with tlie surroundings of the picturesque site on the banks of the Avon, and with a membership which is twice as large as that of a year ago. The special concern of tho Y.M.C.A. is tho young men and boys of the- city, but the association is also of servico to the community at large. In giving expression to its programme of applied Christianity, the association embraces every opportunity of helping the Churches and' their Bible classes, realising that to those its members owe their primary allegiance, and as a result a cordial relationship exists with tho Churches of all denominations. It welcomes to the associate membership any ydung men of good moral standing, and its all-round programme of social, mental and spiritual activities aims at- developing healthy bodies, wealth of inward life and ..spiritual quality in men. To this end. healthy recreation, social life and study circles play their part. This officer is also an organiser of outdoor athletics. In furtherance of its educational activities, tho association has affiliated with the W.E.A., and will this year feature tutorial classes in addition to the study clubs and popular lectures which have been conducted in the past.
