PRIZE-GIVINGS.

LADBROKES. The Ladbrooksf School concert and distribution of prizes was held in’the Town Hall on Tuesday evening, December 21; Mr J. Yaat-mau (chairman of, tho committee) presiding over a largo attendanco. The concert proved ono of the most enjoyable hold in the district £or some time. The following contributed items:—Misses Suckling, Everest and Manhiro, Mrs M’Keussio, Rov B. Metson, Mr Hitchens and Mr It. M’Curtnoy with his two darkies, Sambo (Mr J; Jones) and Bones (Mr IS. On Tuesday afternoon the annual break np and prize giving took place ot the Springston School. In tho absence of the chairman. (Mr J. W. Kimc) tho Rev J. Harris presided. There was a largo attendance of parents, and a short programme wns given ]by the children. Every --hild in the school received a book, which was given out by tho chairman. Miss Roscoe gave a special prize to each standard for tewing. These woro won by tho following:—Standard Vl. Ida Everest. Standard V.— Margaret Stanley. Standard IV.— Hilda Dierck. The Wcodend School broke up on Wednesday afternqon, -when Mr Jamoa Little, a very old resident, wjio took a leading part. | in establishing the school in 1874, presenter! j »prizls for tho best attendance.
