CANTERBURY TEAM SUCCESSFUL. The team which journeyed to Wellington to compete in the sports gathering of the Wellington Caledonian Society at the Basin Reserve on Monday eas very successful.; Of the seven Hat events on tho programme Canterbury tepreseinatives started in six and gained five firsts, two seconds and ono third. The team which went north was comprised of J. M. U. Carrick, of H. 5.0.8. Club, an<T C. H. Taylor and C. M. Walden, of C.A.A.C. Carrick was the most successful of the trio tind carried off the Donald Gillies ClialJentro Cup for most points scored in tho g half-mile, 440.vds, 220yds and 100 yds handicaps. Oarriok scored 11 points, Taylor being runner-up with 10 .'.points.' ' , Carrick put up. some good performances during the day. _ His biggest win was the 220yds Wellington provincial championship, in which lie detfsated Th Hay vice, of Wellington, (i. At. He also started in the 120yds hurdles handicap, but fell at the first hurdle. In the 440yds Ins handicap was reduced from 22yds to 12yds. but he then managed to got second place.
