NEWS AND NOTES. Tho roan mare Strayshot, has again changed hands and she is now being trained at Riccarton by E. Kingan. She was schooled over four hurdles on Saturday and gave a satisfactory exhibition. Kilrush was tired last week and he will require a long spell before he is ready for serious tasks again. AiTowsmith is bowling along in great stylo on the Riccarton tracks and he should be in his best form for his engagements at tho Auckland ltaciug Racing Club's meeting. Tho Methven. Racing Club has secured an exceptionally good list of acceptances for the meeting to bo held on Thursday, and it should prove easily tho most successful fixture m the club's history. Tho fields will be large for all the events, while class is well represented. The Manawatu Racing Club's summer meeting has attracted good nominations, drawn from all parts of the North Island, but the only South Island horses engaged are the Blenheim pair, Imtirinbon and Barleycorn. otahuhu trotting club. The Epsom ground has undergone a complete transformation since tho Auckland Trottilt if Club held its last meeting in April, and though much remains to be done ere th a alterations are completed, sufficient has been accomplished to bring out tho boldness of the scheme undertaken. In the course of a short speech, Mr J; Kowe t president of the Auckland Trotting Club, stated that up to the present tho club had expended £17,000 on the schome of improvements.
