CANTERBURY ROWING ASSOCIATION. The Canterbury Rowing; Association mel last evening in the Canterbury Rowing Club’s boatsheds, Mr F. D. Keateven presiding. There also attendedMessre W. S. Godfrey, R. D« Hewer, The action of the president and secretary in approving the programme for the Akaroa regatta was confirmed. The secretary was instructed to writ# to the Regatta Club instructing it that it -pould be necessary to insert the words “ donation to the winning . club” before the prize moneys, as advertised. A letter was received from Mr R. E. Nightingale acknowledging his appointment as a vice-president of the association, and enclosing o donation. The organiser of the. Canterbury Prague League wrote regarding the question of: tha league taking np the matter of daylightsaving, as requested by tha association, and stating that, owing to the lateness of the Parliamentary session, it was decided to defer consideration of the subject until the meeting of the League’s Council early in the new year. The letter waa received. Mr B. A. Harris, the association’s delegate to the conference of the N.Z.A.R.A., wrote regarding the allocation of the championsnip regatta to Marlborough, that delegates generally did not favour Akaroa as a place where championships should ho held, on account of tit difficulty of access. H e further reported, in tha matter of alterations to rules that the proposal to supply caps,coats and badges to championship crew winners was agTeed to. I It was resolved to reprint the rule books, and that three copies should be supplied to each association and two to each dub, free of charge. It was resolved, also, to institute an interprovincial four-oars, the first race to be allotted to Auckland. ’ Th P question of the definition of an amateur had been brought up by the Anokland Association. In the discussion that followed, it transpired that the League football' question was the burning one in Auckland, and that they wished to know whether a man who played League football against ■ those who received money for playing the game became professionals.
