LOAN SCHEMES.

[Per Press Association".] WAIItOA. .November The YVairoa County Council yesterday rejected the Gisborne Borough Council scheme for raising loans u ; \ means oi" premium bonds. The conn/H considered it an improper way to raise loans for public works. No councillor spoke a word m favour of the scheme, which was dubbed “the local body ’intis.” It is reported that a strong agitation is agnin .arising, Cisiiorne seeking a, direct east coast road, close to Waikaremoann and across Wairekei, ilius cutting out Wniroa, which might get a branch in the next hundred years. This alarmed the county council, winch passed a. resolution opposing any deviation of the line as laid down by the Public Works Department, which does not, pass through AVairoa.
