A Becret ballot to decide whether the offer of the employers in respect to the demnnd for increased wages will be accepted or not, and, in the event of it being rejected, whether the members will favour adopting extreme measures to aecure the union s claims. i 3 at present being tnkon by members of the Auckland Gas Employees’ Union. The ballot pupers, which were issued on Juno 10, are returnable before to-mor-row evening at live o’clock. At a special meeting of the union held on Juno 9, somo 220 members attending, the company’s offer was rejected. The engineer and manager of the company were advised accordingly, and further notified that a ballot of all members was being taken to confirm or otherwise the resolution.
