AMBERLEY SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL.

TO THE EDITOR. Sir, —I see by your paper that the chairman of the Amberley Town Board has at last arranged for a public meeting of the residents of North Kowai and Amberley. The notice reads 22nd instant, which should, I think, bo tho 21st instant, as that is Friday. There has been a great deal of interest taken in what form the soldiers’ public memorial is to take. The Empire Service League proposal was the nrst to appear in public. An artistic hall and soldiers’ club wn s proposed in November, 1918, and the league here still keeps to that proposal, which will be brought before the public at tlie proposed meeting. It is hoped the meeting will be well attended, and let us all have our say—no half-hearted affair, with people going off in two dr three ways of their own. Tho men’s names—that is all that is left—who gave their lives for us, should have tho best, also something to remind us of the brave mew we are pleased to have with us to-day. If you, Mr Editor, will kindly publish this as your bit to past and present subscribers, I will be very thankful.—l am, etc., A. HOTCHKIN. Hon Secretary, Empire Service League. Amberley, May 19.
